Acoustics

Excessive noise heightens stress levels, disrupts, and hinders concentration, comfort and productivity. Spaces lacking soft surfaces exacerbate noise, causing sound to rebound and reverberate off surfaces. Soft furnishings can significantly reduce noise pollution and enhance our surroundings.

The Collection by Silent Gliss includes many acoustically measured fabrics, empowering designers to make well-informed decisions.

We measure acoustic effectiveness in a reverberation chamber using the coefficient (αs) which records sound absorption across the range of frequencies according to DIN EN ISO 354. The average, the αw, is between 0 (no sound absorption), or 1 (complete sound absorption). The nearer to 1 the αw is, the more acoustically effective the fabric is.

The Collection presents two innovative fabrics, Colorama Acoustic and Acoustic Multicolour. Evolved from our established Colorama fabric family, they utilise a special yarn which delivers high acoustic properties while maintaining a delicate and light appearance.
